Expressions of Nature

This was a project I had done in school, which consisted of an open brief.

I created three masks out of Papier-mâché to personify the

elements of nature – Fire, Earth and Water. The intricate dotted

pattern is influenced by the Australian Aboriginal Masks. I used warm colours as well as cold colours to depict the

elements of nature, which I further carried on to my other project.

Dari

I have woven a 6 feet long and 3.5 feet wide Dari on an Open

Shuttle Ply Loom, using yarns of various colours to depict the

elements of nature – Fire, Earth and Water. I decided to use the

same colours as my first project in order to create a sense of continuity

in the idea behind the two projects.
